September 2020 Prayer

Lord God, I pray for the kids all over the world who are starting school; whether in person, online or hybrid. Lord God, give the parents of the students grace and mercy when it comes to the teachers learning how to teach at this time. Lord God, may teachers give themselves grace and mercy as well. Lord may parents and teachers NOT take their frustrations out on their children/students. Lord God, thank You for the advancements in technology that make distance learning possible, even when things do not work the way we would like. Lord God, I ask that You help the students focus and concentrate whether learning online or in person wearing a mask. Lord God, my heart breaks for the world that these young people are entering today.

Father God, I ask that You comfort Your people all over the world who are hurting. Lord God, I ask that You will come near the brokenhearted and fill them with the peace of Your Presence. Lord God, this life is NOT easy. The world that we knew last year at this time seems so far away. Lord, may we long for You more than we long for the past. May we fix our eyes on You and not look too far back, forward or sideways. Thank You Jesus that You are the Author and Perfecter of our faith!

Lord God, it does not take a genius to see that the United States is falling. Lord God, I ask that You will strengthen Your people all over the world. As the United States goes, so do many other countries. Lord God, when it comes to identity may we come to depend on You more and more and not depend on the world and its political systems. Lord God, may we live as good citizens in this world until You call us home.

Holy Trinity: Father, Son, Spirit transform Your people into Your image and remind Your people that ALL people are created in Your image. Lord God, help us to live holy and blameless lives. Thank You for this reader. May You stir in them a desire to grow closer to You in this new month. Thank You for the gift of time You have given this reader and myself. May we make the most of the time You have given us. In Jesus’s Name I pray. Amen.

  1. Well said is an understatement of how touching, relevant, realistic, and down to earth your prayer is, Mandy! We will pray [I’ll incorporate lines of your prayer to mine later tonight] that the Triune GOD will instill patience and love in the hearts of the students, teachers, and parents as they (emotionally) support each other and undergo a national learning process that was not seen before in such scale. We will also pray for the on going situation in the US and for Christians that they will not add to the problem either. As an MIS student then and even now, I believe that it is ok to have a hegemon in a relatively benign US than the alternative, and America needs to strengthen its “soft power” (i.e. diplomacy and cooperation) too, globally. We will pray, for enlightenment Mandy! Blessings to you and Nathan!

      1. Oh good! Just had another blogger get back to me that they loved the ice cream. Can’t wait for you to give it a try.
I could use prayer for an upcoming trip next week to visit my in-laws in Arizona. First time flying since covid. Please pray for peace, safety, health, and a great visit. Thank you! How can I pray for you?

      2. For sure praying for your travels!! Please pray that God would give me and that I would follow His wisdom and discernment in all areas of life! I know that sounds generic but I am obsessed with God’s wisdom so that is my long running prayer request! I don’t know if you follow SlimJim at the Domain for Truth, I am going to guest blog for him so I need wisdom for writing! Thank you SO much, Meghan! Lots of love, hugs and blessings!

      1. Our weekend was great, thanks, as our family celebrated Corinne’s big 65th birthday. How was your weekend? Yup, Corinne completed all of the ppwk for her long-term disability and sent that in, thanks! I’ve got just a few details left and I’ll be done with the house painting. I need to throw a party when that’s all done.

      2. Happy Birthday, Corinne!! My brother and nephew turn 37 and 5 today so we celebrated my nephew (and acknowledged my brother) over the weekend! I totally understand wanting to celebrate the end of painting!! I am serious Papa Tom, if the Lord said, “Mandy, which would you rather do: paint or rip up flooring?” I would choose flooring every time!!!

      3. Thank you! I passed along your Happy Birthday wishes to Corinne! Glad you had a good birthday-celebrating weekend, also.
        RE: painting
It’s definitely a painstaking job. I am pleased that I began “early” this year in August. I usually procrastinate and start mid-Sept. Because I started early, I’m working on details I normally skip over.

      1. I meant that in a nice way! I also thought you would be glad to know I made my estimated payments for the year rather than in Sept and Jan. I also did all of this before my Accountant sent me a reminder! I do not hate the tax man, accounts, investors etc.

      2. Got the door fixed and set a whole lot of traps to catch the vermin, so things are moving in a positive direction. We do not have lantern flies, and I really do want to see a picture on your next post of the puppy hunting them!

  2. I won’t be offended with “Beat Navy, go Army!” lol. I think our Marine officers care more than the average Marine enlisted, most guys who are enlisted want to be less identified with the Department of Navy as possible lol

    1. Same with the Army! Ever since I was little I always wanted to go to the Army Navy game (and cheer for Army) but my dad said, “no.” When Nathan and I first started dating I said, “Great! I can finally go to the Army Navy game!” Nathan said, “”NO!” Then changed to “do we have too?” Nathan’s first response when there was, “look at these cad-idiots!” I just shake my head. God couldn’t have given Nathan a more civilian wife! Is your sister still in the Navy if I may ask?!

      1. My sister got out of the Navy to have a family though her husband just entered the reserves. Both husband and wife had it very hard with the constant deployments of both of them during the War on Terror. Their first two years they didn’t see each other for more than 30 days total. I was in the Marines during that time and was busy with my own military world but I look back now and appreciate my sister’s sacrifice…also that’s funny what Nathan called the cadets! When I went to my sister’s graduation it felt weird seeing so many mishipmen lol

  3. Answering your question: Our midweek Tuesday Bible study is over Zoom as well; same meeting code and at 6:30-8PM PST which I believe is 9:30-11PM EST. We are going to start a series on leadership, and it will be more topical for Tuesday nights largely because exegeting verse by verse is so exhausting and I don’t have strength or time to do two exegetical preps per week in the midst of also running our church’s youth group and pastoral visitations and discussions via text, messages, phone calls, etc. Its been also a very busy season with people going through things or wanting to talk

    1. Jimmy, you are an AMAZING vessel for the Lord Jesus Christ! Is there anyone in the church who could help lead Bible Study or help take some responsibilities off of you? I do NOT want you to burn out! Sorry, not trying to tell you what to do! I have seen some wonderful men of God burn out or become bitter because of lack of soul care, family time and/or asking for help. Praying for you and Nancy!!!

      1. We use to have guys lead the youth grup but last few years most of our capable guys moved away further from our church thought they still attend or got busy with things. Also we have a number of special needs guys that makes some of our ministry challenging; I do hope though one day we have more guys do more ministry and teaching for the concerns you identified

  4. Thank you for your prayers about the fires here in California; the evacuation warning for where we live in California was lifted but they say they won’t be able to put out the fire until October 15th. That’s a long time. But the fire is heading away from the population area though its incredibly apocalyptic with our skies today. I appreciate your prayers very much

      1. Answering your question: the shooting of those two sheriffs deputy was quite far away from us. That’s a really part of town. I am somewhat concern for our officers having a siege mentality; I’m praying for them and you’re right these violence need to denounced

      2. I can’t understand why so few media outlets are discussing how these sheriffs were blocked entrance to hospital care. I tell Nathan all the time to not get angry yet I find myself fighting anger all the time at everything that is happening. 2020 a year unlike anything else and I think what is happening is the beginning. What we once knew we will never know again. Lord God, help us!

      3. Seriously last night I was kind of mad. Its crossing a lot of lines to me to see that video officers get shot then to hear of the protesters showing up at the Hospital. Its getting too much for me

  5. BCT,

The young lady who cuts my hair (here in Texas) is an elementary school teacher (with an elementary-age son) and is SO ready to get back to the classroom! Some of the kids just aren’t learning as ‘distance learners’.

I just now saw your message on The Domain For Truth. I’ve no idea where your comment is–it’s not in pending or spam. Nowhere. Would you mind trying again?

      1. OK, I just changed my spam settings from:

Strict: silently discard the worst and most pervasive spam.

        …to…

Safe: always put spam in the Spam folder for review.

        Maybe that was the problem?

      2. OK, now I’ve received an email notification on your ‘like’ on one of my comments.

BTW, I’m from very near the Lancaster area. I grew up in Harrisburg/York area. But it’s too cold for me! Love the colorful fall season, though. I miss that.

      3. Thank you for sharing that! I enjoy Harrisburg more than York if I may be honest (I think it’s a 283 vs 30 thing). I have never enjoyed our winters; however, I moved to FL for 3 months last year in the summer and that was just too hot and humid for me! I have really learned to appreciate the seasons! I totally wish you were my Trinity Prof, wow!!! I am also thankful that your post did not discuss EFS/ESS!!

    1. Thank you for praying with me, Ruth! I know the world is watching to see what happens in the States. I am thankful that we are citizens of Heaven first and foremost. Forgive me if this is a stupid question! Does the Isle of Man have travel restrictions? Could you go to Scotland or England if you wanted? I have never been to the Isle of Man but have spent significant time in England, beautiful scenery, lovely people! Thank you again for your time!
