Welcome Aboard!

Photo taken by Mandy Sweigart-Quinn

Nathan, PQ and I have now left the dock and the three of us are about to spend four nights aboard this vessel.

I will confess I have been on ocean cruises, river cruises, large boats, small boats, this is the first time I have been on a houseboat where we (Nathan) decide the itinerary.

God has been gracious to me and I will have cell service so I can connect with y’all! PQ is NOT enjoying himself at all as of yet.

I am looking forward to reading and praying. I will do more casting than catching fish but it will be fun nevertheless!

Father God, thank You for new opportunities, new adventures, new weeks, new days and above all new mercies each day. Lord God, thank You for this reader. Thank You for all the ways that You care for us and allow us to commune with You. Lord God, lead us and guide us. Thank You Jesus that for all of us who have placed our faith in You we know that You are the Master and Commander of our lives, not ourselves. Lord, fill this reader with the peace of Your Presence. In Jesus’s Name I pray. Amen.

    1. Thank you, David! I am sitting up top right now and I am wondering to myself how will I get down?! There is a slide but only a preteen or teen would enjoy that! PQ is checking it out and if he goes down, I assure you I will take a picture!

      1. The last week to two weeks have been quite cold, windy and very wet here. It seems that summer has changed its mind, haha. Did you see the Scottish football news? St.Johnstone (Perth) won the Scottish Cup and Kelty Hearts have won promotion into the Scottish league!

      2. I did see that about St Johnstone, I also saw Gilmour is happy being in Perth (I have friends who LOVE Arsenal and keep track of where guys go). I didn’t know about Kelty Hearts so I will have to look into them!! It’s a damp and arthritic day here, yesterday was summer. Only God knows the weather haha!

  1. How exciting!! I think it sounds very nice, being out in the water, reading, spending time with your loved ones 🙂 PQ is such a good boy! Tyson is the type of dog that takes off running like a lunatic, so he always has to be on a leash 😑

You both look very happy and you are so photogenic 😊 I hope you enjoy yourselves and stay safe out there 🙂 Hugs!!

    1. Thank you! PQ is freaking out, the motor and generator scares him. He just wants to be held. We park the boat so he can go potty and he runs around having a good time. He is a good boy and stays close to us even when he’s off his leash. Do you have a code word with Tyson? Like when he darts off you scream the word and he knows to comeback? Mine was “RED!” Love, hugs and blessings to you!!!

      1. Hopefully PQ just needs to get used to it, poor little guy 🙂 He might just need some time to realize it’s safe. Oh, I would have thought yall had to use puppy pads. Guess you’re close enough to shore!

No, my dog doesn’t have a code word, he’s a doofus 😅 I think we need to get him trained. Tyson is very sweet, but easily distracted.

    1. Thanks, Cathy! I take comfort knowing their are no alligators in these waters! We went out in FL numerous times and saw gators and I said to Nathan, “get me out of here!” In FL I like saltwater better than fresh or brackish water! Do you guys go to the beach much?!

      1. I’m with you regarding alligators! I love the ocean, so beautiful and peaceful, but my husband has had skin cancer several times so we limit our time in the sun. And recently its been more difficult for me to walk so all combined we don’t go by the beach anymore.

      2. I am so sorry, Cathy! I didn’t know or I wouldn’t have said anything. I have all kinds of sun stuff. I’m sorry to hear about your walking. I will pray for you with this. If you’ve post on this I’m sorry I missed this!

      3. No apology needed, no worries at all. I don’t think I’ve ever done a post, but I’ve commented on it somewhere. 🤔 I very much appreciate your prayers. 🙂

    1. I don’t know how it is in Roc but it’s 30 degrees cooler in PA today than yesterday! It’s an arthritic and damp day. I said before we left rather it be cooler than hotter, “Jesus I repent!” Rest of the week looks nice. Totally realize this is a first world problem! I am taking in God’s awesome creation even in the midst of my whine! I am thankful for you and Corinne!!!

    1. God is good and so far I have service! I am trying to night fish! I sent you and Kent a video email. There is truly a biblical theology of trees from Gen-Rev and perhaps tomorrow I will blog on that!!!! Now, I may not have good enough internet for Zoom tomorrow but we will try!

  3. Mandy your time at the Lake looks like it was a nice time with some excitement from the storm. You look happy and I enjoy reading your blog. I thought of you this week when listening to the song ” Talking to Jesus”
Enjoy your summer and will continue to be reading. God Bless!
