Sunset August 20, 2021

The Mighty One, God the Lord,
speaks and summons the earth
from the rising of the sun to its setting.
Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty,
God shines forth
(Psalm 50:1-2 ESV).

Nathan, PQ and Gary are cat fishing, which means I get a Friday night to myself. What a gift to marvel at the majesty of God. In the midst of all the chaos, do not lose hope dear reader, the Triune God is in control.

Lord God, thank You that You control when the sun rises and when it sets. Thank You Lord that while nightfalls here, day is breaking and in full swing elsewhere. Lord God, no two sunrises and sunsets are the same, each day is unique whether we realize it or not. Thank You Holy Trinity that Your mercies are new each morning. Lord God, for the one who reads this at night, may they rest well in Christ. Lord God, for the one who reads this in the daytime, may they walk in the light of Jesus, being a light to all they meet. Lord God, thank You that nothing that happens under the sun catches You unaware. Lord God, may we never lose sight that one day soon we will see Jesus, our King, in His Beauty ruling and reigning in Zion. Thank You Lord for today! In Jesus’s Holy and Majestic name I pray. Amen.

  1. Magnificent! Let those who have ears hear the declaration of the heavens to the glory of God Almighty! Oh Lord our God, be pleased to receive the praises of your children, especially Mandy tonight, whose eyes are on You, whose hope is in You alone, and whose heart is in service to Your people by Your Spirit. 🙏❤️

    1. Amen, Dora! I am humbled by your prayer and care for me! Know they are returned to you as well! Lord God, thank You for Dora. Thank You for her heart for You, for Scripture and for people. Lord God, keep Dora connected to You. Help her to process what she sees through Your filter. Thank You Lord for all the ways You have gifted Dora. Give her peace and confidence. In Jesus’s Name I pray. Amen.

  2. As a coat draped on a chair tells us of the presence of a loved one so a sunset tells us of the presence of our Father God, our Beloved One.
Thank you for sharing your moments of meditation with us Mandy, God bless you sister.

  3. A beautiful picture Mandy 😊. Was walking along the beach today and as my hubby, Buzzbe and I were enjoying our stroll, I shared the same though in addition to just marvelling at the beauty of Gods handiwork.

    1. They used worms. Nathan caught one carp that was 25lbs and another that was 30lbs. He said the 30lb carp took almost 20 minutes. They caught a bunch of channel cats as well. Nathan got home late and we have been out for a little over an hour and we are out of here. Caught two very tiny cats. Humidity is brutal today, but still better than snow!! Love you so much sister!!

      1. No because I was in such awe (and Nathan as well) that by the time I grabbed my phone to take a picture the clouds had all moved and the picture wouldn’t have done justice.

  4. I’m doing well this Tuesday but busy! Parents called me last minute to help move a super big book shelf to someone who bought it and its like 8 feel long and over 6 feet tall (dad built it many years ago). The lady that bought it had a big truck but a bad back so I did the bulk of the lifting and tied it down on her truck. Helped my mom with things to move. Just got back want to take a nap but I gotta wrap things up for tonight!
