PQ’s 3!

Happy Birthday, PQ! Photo taken by Mandy Sweigart-Quinn.

It is hard to believe that the PQ puppy is 3 today (March 31, 2022). I absolutely love this doggie; it will be a sad day(s) for me when he meets his demise! Like the previous two, I have learned more about myself through PQ this year. I have learned that I am still impatient. I still get frustrated when he doesn’t listen or when he barks at nothing! PQ still has NOT met a leaf he doesn’t like. Leaves totally distract him, I confess it’s amusing to watch! I have also learned that PQ’s well-being matters to me. I still called him an “awful wretched beast” at times; however, with traveling more this past year, I have learned that I miss him if I don’t see him for a few days! PQ truly is my fur baby!

I am thankful that while I am impatient, God is patient! I am thankful that when I get distracted chasing leaves and other frivolous things that God redirects my path. I am thankful that our Good Shepherd doesn’t yell at me out of frustration! I am becoming more aware and grateful each day that when I meet my earthly demise, I will see and be with Jesus forever!

I am thankful for each person, animal and plant that God has given me the opportunity and responsibility to care for and love. I am thankful for ALL the love and kindness that people show my puppy PQ. It amazes and humbles me how happy and excited people are to see PQ, even those who only meet him for a moment at the park, on the street, in Lowes etc.

Dear reader, I pray that you will take a moment to celebrate those who matter the most to you today. I am so thankful for all the love and support that you give to me and my family; please know that it is reciprocated. PQ will be spoiled today. From meeting Nathan for lunch to having dinner with friends, I am so thankful for the opportunity to celebrate in the midst of all the chaos and turmoil that the world is facing. With all my heart, thank you for journeying with PQ, Nathan and I these last three years!

Lord God, thank You for PQ. Thank You that You have called us to care for Your Creation from the environment, to animals, to plants, and those created in Your image, humans. Lord God, may we rise and honor the call that You have placed upon us. Lord God, help Your people to love well all those whom You have entrusted to us. Help us to serve others in a manner that is pleasing to You and that glorifies You. Lord God, thank You for this reader! Lord God, reward this reader for their love and kindness for me and my family! Lord God, thank You and praise You for all of those who pray for me and my family. Thank You God for opportunities to celebrate. May we look for ways to do good, cheer others on and celebrate Your goodness even in a world gone mad. Thank You Lord that for the believer in Christ, this world is not our home. Thank You that our demise will not end in torment but in victory. Lord God, for the reader who does not know You, may today be their day of salvation. Thank You again Lord for this reader! Lead us and guide us today! In Jesus’s Name I pray. Amen.

  1. PQ is definitely a cute wee thing, happy birthday to him! Our God is so amazing and generous in His love for us, providing our basic needs and encouragements to lift us up. Pets are a blessing for us, a constant reminder of His love in our life. God bless you all today dear sister.

      1. Our last pet was a cat, which we miss, but I am a dog lover from my early childhood. It is just that I can’t look after a dog nowadays. Generally we are doing find, just recovering from yesterday’s trip to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for my annual brain tumour check up.

  3. I miss CoCoa but Sunny my Kiki is still with me. It’s not lost on me that many people have come in and out of my life. What influence I’ve had or been subject to. God or bad. How many missed opportunities? Time is short and you never know when a window will close. Am I the Ambassador I am called to be? Am I too busy doing… to seize the moment? Love Ya Mandy, Happy Birthday PQ!

      1. I’m better then I’ve been for months. I feel for you in regards to the writing class. I too have had to pass a test or write a paper to please a professor when I totally disagree. My intent is to learn, apply and live in that light. I’m learning and just do what I have to in order to finish the corse.

      1. Oh man!!!! I’ve spent a fair amount of time in the UK and the weather truly is fickle! I am so glad there will be a day when there will be no inclement weather and if there is we will have glorified bodies that will be able to handle it no problem! I appreciate you, Andy!!!!

      2. I was in London and then Orpington, Maidstone and Kent. I’ve also visited Northern Ireland and Scotland. While not the U.K. for the longest time I wanted to move to Ireland because I loved it there when I was little; however, when I returned in May 2004 it was rainy and cold the entire time I said to my mom, “forget this, I’m not moving here!!!!” I love the U.K. great people, great terrain, great food!!!!

Scotland is always a favourite destination for us!

I only know maidstone and kent as i did many deliveries there over the years when i was driving trucks for a living.

      4. Thankfully not too close to London anymore. That’s a different world in and of itself.

I use to deliver abnormal loads into London back in the day. Man was that a challenge!! Oh the joys of the M25 motorway (known in the UK as the M25 car park).

  4. Awww. Such a sweet puppy! Happy birthday, PQ! I love the analogy you drew out here! Very glad for the Lord’s patience with me, too! I have been known to chase after many a leaf in my day. 🙂

  5. Our pups are related in the leaf chase DNA. They even look a bit alike. When a wind comes up and blows 100 leaves by him, he needs a shrink. He loves to jump and disappear in snow (we just got another 8″) I’m glad PQ fits well in your life.

    1. I was wondering how happy your puppy must be that spring is coming! PQ is super small and sinks in the snow, but he’s so light that when it crusts he doesn’t fall through like our neighbor’s dog who is also a cavapoo! PQ has had many adventures in 2021 and God willing he will have many more boating, fishing, outdoor adventures in 2022! You are a blessing, Gary!

      1. Our Buddy is 25 pounds and is a Cavashon. His demise hopefully will not be trying to eat a bear wandering into the yard. We keep him on a leash when taken outside or his life expectancy would be high at 24 hours outside alone with all the owls, eagles, bear, fisher, bobcat, cougar and wolves around.
Speaking of the wold, I bet Nate is counting the days to BWCA! (bring a camera Nate)
I can’t go till June. Grandkids graduations.

      2. Praise God you have your priorities straight! Cavashons are really pleasant disposition dogs. I couldn’t remember what you had specifically but I knew some kind of spaniel!!!! So glad you keep him on a leash!!!! Does your buddy like the canoe/boat?! PQ has decided he will only investigate fish that weigh and are as long as him!

    1. Hi, Annie!!!! I’m the ALSQ and Nathan’s the NQ. I said we could get a pug and call him
PQ! Well, we didn’t get a pug but we liked PQ so much that although his name really is PQ we say he’s the Puppy Quinn! Thank you so much for your time, love and care!!!!! 🤗🤗🤗🤗😘😘😘😘🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶

  6. HOw precious with PQ! Happy Birthday! What a lesson you also brought to ourown life with our own chasing after leaves (or hating leaves). God is patient is such an anchor for our soul!

    1. No; however, we always thought we would get a pug and since our last name is Quinn we were like PQ. Well, as you can see he’s not a pug but we liked PQ so when asked we will say his name is PQ but he’s the Puppy Quinn 🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶 how are you doing?!
