Eagle sitting on nest

Eagle sitting on nest. 8 April 2022. Photo taken by Mandy Sweigart-Quinn.

While the sun is shining and some of the trees are starting to bud, the air is chill. Spring has yet to appear. This does not deter Nathan from fishing!

In the next month or so the eaglets will leave their nest. I am fascinated by the bald eagle (and raptors in general). Watching the eagle fly is remarkable. (I missed an awesome opportunity to photograph the eagle diving into the lake, capturing its fish and taking off). Any time I see an eagle, I cannot help but ponder:

28 Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary;
his understanding is unsearchable.
29 He gives power to the faint,
and to him who has no might he increases strength.
30 Even youths shall faint and be weary,
and young men shall fall exhausted;
31 but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint (Isa 40:28-31 ESV).

Lord God, thank You and praise You that You do not slumber or sleep! Thank You and Praise You Jesus that You give rest, strength and an easy load to those who belong to You! Lord God, for the reader who does not know Jesus as Lord and Savior, may today be their day of salvation.

Lord God, strengthen Your people. Help us to not grow weary in doing Your will and work even when it is unpopular. Help us to stand for Truth, help us to be a light to this dark world. Help us to rise above the struggles and challenges of this world and to live and rest in You.

Lord God, thank You and praise You that as You care for the eagle, the bunny, the flowers in the field, how much more You care for Your people. Prepare our hearts to celebrate Your Resurrection. Lord teach us to live as a people with Hope more and more each day. Thank You Lord for this reader. Lord, renew this reader and give them courage today. In Jesus’s Name I pray. Amen.

  3. Wow will read this shortly! Answering your question on my blog: I saw the picture of one of the aborted babies found in DC; I can’t stomach seeing young ones killed so I didn’t watch the video. It was one of the most difficult picture of abortion I’ve seen. I pray for this to end

  4. Nice Eagle picture Mandy…It will be there awhile but they have been known to dive on people if they get too close. My dad and uncle found this out while fishing in a little boat near shore. The Eagles didn’t like them and dove at them several times.
    Good prayer as we have a whole culture wanting lies to be accepted as truth.

      1. Hi Mandy. I loved your precious reply to my comment, and I wanted to answer you right away. But something was going on with either my husband, or the dogs, I don’t remember now, and after that, I got totally sidetracked. Anyway, to answer your question about my stepdaughter… she experienced some horrific traumas while she was working with the Afghan evacuees. She will not tell her dad or me what it was, but she did tell her doctor, who diagnosed her with PTSD due to what she went through during her almost four months of working with the refugees. Her doctor advised her very strongly not to continue working with the Afghan refugees.

        Following her doctor’s advice, my stepdaughter looked for another job. She hated having to do that, because she had loved working with the Air Force, until the traumas happened. She was soon hired as a Corrections Officer in a detention center, also known as a jail. She has been there about a month. She told me that she loves working there even more than she loved her job with the Air Force. Years ago, when she lived in Washington State, she was a sheriff’s deputy field training officer and she often did undercover work. She liked that job a lot, and she only stopped because her children were terrified that their mom would be killed on the job, which could easily have happened, with undercover work especially. The job she is doing now is similar, however it is not nearly as dangerous, because the criminals are behind bars and she has isn’t usually alone, there are other corrections officers working nearby.

        Here is an amazing thing — night before last, the corrections officer who was working with her, suddenly fell down and lost consciousness. He had no pulse and he was not breathing. My stepdaughter called for EMTs and immediately started doing CPR and mouth to mouth resuscitation. By the time the ambulance and EMTs got there, he was beginning to breathe again, They determined that he probably had a heart attack. He was airlifted by helicopter to a hospital in Texas. The next morning, which was yesterday, he called my stepdaughter’s cell phone from his hospital bed and thanked her for saving his life!

  5. It is always wonderful to witness the beauty of God’s creation and I love how you always bring the beauty in these things and tie it to our awe and praise of God.
    I always love your prayers Mandy. They are special. Hope Nathan has a fun time fishing. And weather gets more spring like soon. Over here we are getting just a tease of the coming cooler weather and we are so ready for it after the hot summer.
    Hope your study is going ok. And your assignments are not stressing you out.

  6. I love watching the bald eagles here too. And as to Nathan, I’m pretty sure when Jesus returns, Nathan will be fishing. The apocalypse occurring all around him, and he will be asking for just one more cast of his line!

    1. Ha!!!! You’re so funny! Any Bull Elk alarms lately?! Nathan wants to travel west this summer, he’s a Rocky Mountains man at heart. Have you ever been to a Rendezvous? Nathan reveres the mountain man. I said to Nathan, “I’m going to ask you if you’ve ever seen Jeremiah Johnson?!” Nathan says, “of course she has.” Anyway, I hope you are having a wonderful day! Tax season is almost over!!!! 🤗🤗🤗🤗😘😘😘😘

      1. No Bull elks lately! And yes, I love that movie! It is one of my favorites. We actually just watched it again about two weeks ago! Yes, one week left, and I’m doing great. I never have been to a Rendezvous, other than seeing it in the movie Mountain Men with Charlton Heston and Brian Keith, also another favorite!

      2. Ha, Nathan was right! Yes, Mountain Men is one of his most favorite movies and he is quoting it right now. He says we are going to watch it this evening. Nathan wishes he could be a mountain man. You are amazing and I am so thankful for you!!!!

      2. My people are good!! The animals on the other hand are 👎🏼…Both Yorkies are declining from their health issues (Max with his bad heart and Eli with his seizures) the vet told us on Monday it’ll be sooner than later for Max 😭and he’s only 5…so strange and sad! And the hedgehog (our newest pet addition) is incredibly sassy which makes for zero fun to try and handle her. 🦔😡
