5 days of fun!

Houseboat on Raystown Lake, 23 May 2022. Photo taken by Mandy Sweigart-Quinn.

After making the 2.5 hour drive with my mom, Nathan, PQ and I all sitting in the front of Nathan’s Ram 2500 [Nathan wanted me to clarify], we have made it to Raystown Lake! I am eager and excited to commune with the Lord through reading His Word and fishing. God has been merciful to me in helping me finish both of my classes well.

I am beyond thankful for you, dear reader. I appreciate your prayers, your encouragement and your support. I am humbled by the love and care you show me! I look forward to sharing this time away with you!!!

Lord God, thank You for this reader! Thank You Lord for the opportunity to come out again to Raystown Lake and to bring my mom! Lord God, I look forward to this adventure! Lord, I look forward to what You will teach me and convict me of on this trip. Lord God, thank You again for this reader. Bless this reader’s week and draw them closer to You. In Jesus’s Name I pray. Amen.

Happy photo of the 4 of us. We will see what we look like come Friday!!! My mom already said, “there will be no other photos of me!”
This is Nathan summed up in a t-shirt!

      1. Doing great. Thanks. Ramping up for my France assignment. It will be fun.

I’ll be taking some vacations. I am going to Murphy NC this week. I have spent a lot of time there the last few years. Great place and love the mountains.

Then, I go to Hilton Head and the beach in late June with my son. That will be a lot of fun. One of my sisters will go as well.

Then in July I will travel to Lancaster, Ohio to visit my best friend. His daughter passed away and I am looking forward to spending some time with him.

Sounds like your classes went well.

        Shalom!

Have a wonderful time. I do pray that the Lord speak to your hearts as He did to His first beloved fishermen.
    Post pics and updates! ❤
Congrats on finishing your classes, seems like just the other day you posted a bit of class anxiety… 😃
    Have fun dear sister!

      1. Wow, back to school so soon?
We’re fine, just made our membership at church official, that meant presenting our testimony before the church. I’m excited about this new chapter in my life with the Lord.
Back to MA this weekend for 7-10 days. Oh and yes, we like being out in the water – not sure if I could sleep out in it though!
Have a great time sister, se agapo…😃 !

  2. Have a wonderful time, may the Lord speak to your heart and may you hear it and learn from it. I laughed when I read about the further photos and what your mom said that there will no more for her this trip 😁.

      1. petrol for many people over here has rendered them pedestrians lol currently about £1.85/litre for diesel, and £1.79/litre for petrol (around $9/gallon)

we used to drive a Land Rover Discovery, V8…….that sing purred and made us smile, but we rarely filled up with petrol as she’d been converted to run on gas instead (gas made from petrol (called LPG – Liquid Petroleum Gas))

the gas about a 1/4 of the cost of petrol at the garage, but we were glad when then there was a strike to deliver petrol and diesel in the UK – well over a decade ago – because the gas delivery wasn’t restricted and we just kept going

we still miss that car……………………….it was more than just a car, it was a way of life, and we loved it

      2. Nathan is a mechanic/autobody technician and was telling me about how he can convert cars to LPG. I can imagine that you miss that vehicle just through this interaction! Gas prices where I live fluctuate daily. I am eager for when I join y’all on Skype and can hear your stories more in person!!!!

  5. Ok. I googled the truck – very cool. You can’t buy that model in the UK, only the smaller versions.

I’ve only rarely seen what I’d call a proper American pick up truck, near the US Air Force bases over here…they just don’t fit on our, generally, narrower roads quite so well though.

The certainly have presence on the roads though 🙂

      1. We’re all ok – thanks, although my cold is lingering from over a week ago!

i’ve got my second load of washing on the line, but there’s nearly fully black skies surrounded by blue patches……….gonna be a sky watching day today to keep my washing drying!!

Our Land Rover Discovery was huge compared to most cars, and meant we could drive the city streets better as we didn’t care about the many, large, potholes. plus, other drivers let us drive ‘correctly’. in other words we were able to drive as you are taught to drive (and which you soon realise doesn’t help much on most British roads lol) because they let us pass when they should, rather than expecting you to stop for them…

        yes, road presence helps!!

  8. Hello! Answering your question: Homeschooling stil the kids, did some math, wife did other subjects and finished lunch and about to go over second commandment with the Kids (Exodus 20:4-6). Will be talking to a couple this afternoon with my wife onboard for the pastoral discussion. I might be trying to squeeze in time with two of our deacons concerning our church support of an overseas orphanage since giving for that has been down and I’m hoping we be able to sustain support in the long run. Hope your day goes well!

    1. Brother, email me with how we can help with your overseas orphanage. I have a check planned for y’all for when we get back (I wanted to mail it before we left) so if there’s a way that we can help with that PLEASE let me know and we will gladly do so! I think you know that my heart is with TCAC and all whom y’all support. Anyway, just let me know. I know this isn’t your favorite thing to discuss!!!!

  9. Answering your question: My memorial day was good! I got distracted after I wrote my comment on your post on my phone and it cleared…so here I am writing again.
Our day went well! We had BBQ and also dinner take out. Slow day but meaningful day. Communited online with a Christian Marine vet who I pray for often; he was injured in Fallujah, shot in the head and his cognitive ability has been decreasing. His Marine best friend was killed a few days after he was injured. Memorial Day I tend to remind myself to check up on him. HOpe your day was well?

    1. Freedom is not free is something I have been meditating on a lot lately. I thankful that you haven’t forgotten the wounded and those who suffer from battle. I know when people go up to him and thank him for his service he always says something like, “not my day.” It weighs heavy on him everything that is happening. The failed (and cowardly) response of law enforcement in Uvalde has his ire as well. I am so thankful for you, Jimmy!

      1. Oh man the law enforcement leadership response at Uvaldr really was upsetting when more information came out. I was telling Nancy that I have a hard time not seeing how officers didn’t disobeyed the command earlier to try to storm the classroom when they heard shots going off in the class room, knowing where those shots were going. I imagine these cops have more better training than we ever got with clearing rooms in the Marines, and I never cleared rooms in Iraq ever thinking we were swat and I always felt the Marines we were at a disadvantage with all the battle rattle they have us carry we can be heard coming from so far away plus the shouts and command, but sometimes moral duty calls for taking the guy down and you gotta just go in. Glad that some finally did but what’s with the local police leadership…just my two cent. I think your husband has more to say with his time in and as an MP background

      2. Nathan’s like, you took an oath, how do you let children die? He would agree that needed to be disobeyed and the fact that no one did is telling on the part of the entire force there. Nathan’s pulled security all over the world, I know he still thinks about doing that. I am thankful for men like you, Jin and Nathan who think about others more than self!

      3. I’m grateful for guys like Jin and Nathan. I’ve always been more of the guys that go in because I’m concern for guys like Nathan and Jin going in, and not wanting them to get hurt and left to dry. But there’s certain guys that plunge head first into danger with a moral compass zooming in ahead.
