August 2022 Prayer

Lord God, help us to pray more and worry less in this new month. Lord God, help us to read Your Word and cling to You more this month. So many things are competing for our attention, help us to know the best from the good. Lord God, prepare us to stand firm for You. Thank You and praise You Jesus that when we do not know what or how to pray, You intercede on our behalf.

Lord God, give Your people minds to discern what is true and false. Give us wisdom in all areas of life. Help us Lord to ask questions about what we are seeing, hearing and reading rather than just accepting everything that is being told to us. Lord God, help us to not fear what is coming, but to take courage in You. Help us to not give up but to endure staying in the race until You call us home.

Lord God, may we praise You more this month. Lord, may we decrease thinking about how to please ourselves this month. Help us to look for ways to do good.

Lord, political opinions are everywhere, and everyone has one, myself included. Lord, may we be more on fire for You than for political causes.

Lord God, when I started this blog four years ago, I never imagined I would struggle with knowing how to pray for my readers. Lord God, I ask that You help this reader process current events in the light of Your Word. I ask Lord that You will use this reader to be a light to the people around them. Lord God, I ask that You will give this reader a heart that desires to glorify You. And for the reader who does not know You, may today be their day of salvation.

Thank You Jesus that this world is not our home! Remind us that we do not need to fear the darkness that is coming. Lord God, thank You and praise You that for those of us who know Jesus as Lord and Savior we can have peace instead of anxiety. Lord God, I ask that You will fill this reader with grace and mercy. Lord God, draw this reader closer to You. Help and prepare this reader Lord to endure hard times. Thank You again Lord for this reader. Encourage them today. In Jesus’s Name I pray. Amen.

  1. Amen! I need that prayer to not be distracted. It’s so true that so much competes for out attention nowadays. But more than ever, we need to stand firm and prepare for darker days, like you suggested. God bless you in your spiritual journey, dear friend, and thank you for your continual prayers

      1. Ha yes! I am praying for a sweep as we then have 5 games with the Mets.

I try to be a Falcon fan. My dad worked for the original owner of the Falcons. I always am late to the game with them since I don’t watch football until after the World Series.

      1. Kind of figured you would, Mandy, which explains my “why I miss” comments. Nathan found a “keeper”. You’re a blessing too, Mandy. Not to worry. One day at a time. Miss ya and love ya. Keep doing what you’ve got to do. One glorious day . . . Blessings!

  2. I’m in total agreement with every word here, praying alongside you Mandy. Thank you for praying for us readers, esp to “…help this reader process current events in the light of Your Word.” May we see all things through His lens.
I hope all is well! Stay cool sister, keep cruising…😎

    1. Manu, you are a gift to my weary soul!!!! You are on my email list. Forgive me for being behind in your Numbers study! I am excited to read all that God is teaching you through this time in His Word! Numbers is an often overlook book of the Torah (along with Leviticus!).

      1. Mandy, I know you are studying among other life responsibilities so I can completely understand if you are not able to read all my posts. Numbers is definitely not easy to do but hey we are meant to study through all books of the Bible. You are such an encouragement to me my sister

  4. Hi Mandy! Well prayed! This is indeed a reminder of what we all need this month and years ahead i.e. to focus on JESUS as the Master of our life and praise/glorify the Triune GOD. You are right, may we focus on the Gospel of GOD’s gift of salvation for us and not the distractions/desires of the world, political views included. Blessings to you and Nathan, Mandylorian (oh, I get distracted again by Disney+).

    1. You are the absolute best! Praying for you, my sincerest apologies for the current visitor in the region 🤦‍♀️ Oh how I need to focus on Jesus and not on Al Jazeera and the likes. My Greek professor was talking about Jar Jar Binks. I will never be able to understand how that was George Lucas’s favorite character!!! We need to have a Skype chat this month, I will send out an email shortly to see what the month looks like for y’all!!!!! I thank God for you, Kent. I look forward to the day when we will meet in person. Whether on this side of eternity or on the next!!!!!

      1. Honestly, I don’t like Jar Jar too, in the entire prequel. Yet, in star wars lore, nothing beats the Mandylorian. Opps, I must have slipped my thumb in the keyboatd from “a” to “y”. Well, so much for worldly stuff as I’m also reviewing worldly campus land use plans. We must have a dedicated time to praise and reflect on the Triune GOD’s gift of salvation, grace, sovereignty, and glory to get rid on worldly stuff.

    1. Amen to not making this world comfortable! I have to say, I have not heard people saying lately they would like for the Lord to keep them around/alive for xyz. I pray that God will prepare me to stand for Him with all the changes that are happening in life. I am also thankful for your survival skills!!!!!!

  5. “Lord God, help us to pray more and worry less in this new month…” A necessary reminder to stay hid from the voices of this world and to abide in His.

    Blessings to you both
