Autumn at Raystown

Photo taken by Mandy Sweigart-Quinn.

Last October when we were here, the leaves were not as colorful as this year. I am humbled and amazed by how the Triune God colors His world!

I am so glad for this weekend get away. Nathan is praying for bass! I am praying to enjoy this time out in God’s creation, fishing and taking pictures. (I did bring school work with me as well.)

Dear reader, regardless of where you live, I hope you will take a moment to enjoy God’s creation.

Lord God, thank You for Your magnificent color. I am humbled and amazed by how You reveal Yourself to us through nature. Lord, thank You for Your Word. It is through Your Word that we learn salvation is by grace through faith in Christ alone. Lord, thank You for this reader. In Jesus’s Name I pray. Amen.

      1. Turned a little warmer here…we lit our log fire the other day and, well, let’s just say we didn’t need it lol

Had to open the doors to cool the room

We have some pretty colours over here, but nothing like you have in the US

We’ve a friend in Montana who sent us some photos of the forests near her….my word would I love to see it in person!

        Thanks Mandy

  1. All of creation is autographed by our Father in Heaven. It says, somewhere in the psalms, “The heavens are telling the glory of God.”

Yet there are professional nature lovers – like rock climbers – who claim to be atheist?! David say, “whaaaat!”

I love the picture of the red tree. Where I live the leaves turn brown and fall off.

    God bless!

    1. Hi, David! I liked the red tree as well!!! I am sorry to hear the leaves turn brown and fall off, that is sad!!! There are LOTS of yellow leaves where I live, some red and least of all orange. Where we are at right now has lots of orange. Psalm 19 is one of my favorites, for sure!!! Thank you so much for taking time to comment, David!!!

  2. The pictures look beautiful. Enjoy your weekend. It is spring here for us and we are enjoying sunnier days and the bloom of flowers. And thank you for the reminder to take moments and enjoy God’s creation and to be thankful.
    Bless you my sister 💙

      1. I am usually not one to click lot of photos. I enjoy being in the moment and forget to take photos. The maximum number of photos I take is of my dog Buzzbe 🐶. Maybe I should take some when I am out and about ☺️

  3. Mandy, for someone who only sees green vegetation and no vegetation off screen, I do appreciate seeing colored leaves like a fire tree. I really like what you wrote. Indeed, GOD colors our life in His time, it is better than what we want for ourselves, and all for His Glory. Blessings to you, Nathan, and your parents! Did you both catch the bass? 🐳🐋🐬🦈🦭

    1. Hi, Kent!!!! So far, no fish!!!! However in a few short hours we will set out again!!!! I thought of you yesterday when I was taking pictures and that depending on what psalms you are using, I have some nice nature pictures. I hope you had a GREAT birthday!!!!!!!

      1. Mandy, I pray that you both will catch a big memorable fish, bass or not. 🦈🐬 Thank you in advance Mandy! I appreciate your photos and grateful to GOD for these pictures that you have taken. The Psalms series is a long one and mostly (if not all) are sceneries, nature, and less to no human. Thank you so much! We ate a roasted piglet/cochinillo yesterday.

    1. Thank you for sharing that!!!! Are you a pumpkin spice fan?! I love fall scents and tastes from pumpkin to apple to the cooler temps but outside fires, yes it is a beautiful and magnificent time of the year!!! Love you, Beth! I appreciate your love for Jesus and positivity and encouragement to others!!!

  4. Wow been behind on blog reading and just saw this! But answering your question earlier on your blog: I think your comment was nuanced! I never tell people to stop taking pills for their mental illness and have rebuked guys that have told people in our church to stop taking meds. I do mean rebuke, since it puts people in danger.

      1. Aw yes! You should see my little balcony blooming with spring flowers. Every time I see God’s creation I think of the greatness and beauty of our God.
        Love you Mandy.
