Praying Psalm 98

Psalm 98

1 Oh sing to the Lord a new song,
for he has done marvelous things!
His right hand and his holy arm
have worked salvation for him.
2 The Lord has made known his salvation;
he has revealed his righteousness in the sight of the nations.
3 He has remembered his steadfast love and faithfulness
to the house of Israel.
All the ends of the earth have seen
the salvation of our God.
4 Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth;
break forth into joyous song and sing praises!
5 Sing praises to the Lord with the lyre,
with the lyre and the sound of melody!
6 With trumpets and the sound of the horn
make a joyful noise before the King, the Lord!
7 Let the sea roar, and all that fills it;
the world and those who dwell in it!
8 Let the rivers clap their hands;
let the hills sing for joy together
9 before the Lord, for he comes
to judge the earth.
He will judge the world with righteousness,
and the peoples with equity.

Lord God, thank You for the new song that Your people in Christ can sing to You. Lord God as You led Israel through the sea and wilderness so too will You lead Your people by grace through faith in Christ alone.

Lord God, thank You and praise You for Your gift of salvation, how sweet Your grace truly is. Lord God, You have made Your salvation known to the world, thank You and praise You that You know who belongs to You. Lord God, may today be the day of salvation for the reader who doesn’t know Christ.

Lord God, even in these trying times of societal, moral and ethical collapse both in the world and in the church, Lord may Your called out people break forth in joyous songs and praises for all that You have done in our lives. Help us stay connected to You.

Lord God, even if Your people don’t praise You, Your creation will. Lord God, may we care for Your creation. The earth is Your footstool and the place where You have revealed Your salvation to us. Where Jesus came from heaven to take on flesh to dwell among us.

Lord God, thank You that You will Judge justly and righteously. Help us to live each day praising You. May we never forget the prayer that changes everything is praise. Father God, we have so many reasons to sing Your praises. Thank You Lord for Your Word. Thank You for this reader. In Jesus’s Name I pray. Amen.

  1. Amen. Praying with you for the new (not the old) song.

    This is it! “Lord God, thank You that You will Judge justly and righteously. Help us to live each day praising You. May we never forget the prayer that changes everything is praise. Father God, we have so many reasons to sing Your praises. ”

    Blessings for a stunning day in paradise.

      1. Tom, I’m glad to hear from you! Thank you! Grateful to GOD for His kindness and guidance everyday since we’ve started face-to-face work. For this week, we will be having (arguably) the most famous passage of the Book of Psalms. Blessings to you and your family!

      1. So true Mandy, GOD never does! He is so much worth our praise. Praying for your travel. Honestly, I’m more scared in having the right pictures for Psalm 23 than my first land trip to the provinces next week since 2019. 😉

      1. Going into third week. This course is understanding the Prophets studied prophecy before but it is a interesting concept to study the Prophets them self. We looked at an Analogy and introduction so far. We will look at generalizations this week. How are you liking Ancient Church? And the Doctrine of God, it that Theology Proper? How great is our Triune God, worth of praise, honor and glory!!!

      2. It is a Theology Proper class and I am really enjoying it, it complements the Ancient Church class (which I love) immensely!!!!! I am glad you are doing this study on the Prophets!!!!! Our Triune God is definitely worthy to be praised!!!

  4. Hi Mandy, thank you for reminding us of our call to praise and leading us in prayer here. Remembering what the Lord has done lightens the burdens of our heart.
    P.S. the Eagles- I used to supervise an Eagle player on Parole. He had over 20 aliases and absconded 10X. Israel Lang finally reported to me and we developed a good working relationship.
    He died saved, thank God!

  5. Dear Mandy,
    Oh what a beautiful psalm-based, heartfelt prayer to read and join in with you on this cloudy, rainy Lord’s Day!! Even in the clouds heavy with rain we hear His praise proclaimed as all creation is under His sovereign command! May we praise Him with hearts heavy or light, for we are His people called by Him to be His inheritance! Our great and glorious God! Amen and Amen!

    Enjoy the game and make a joyful noise unto the Lord while you’re at it! 😀

  7. “The prayer that changes everything is praise”–such good, truth-filled words! On another note, I think about what you sais about creation praising God even if we don’t. We sang the revelation song at church on Sunday, and the line “with all creation I sing praise to the King of kings” always moves me so much. It’s do incredibly amazing to think that we all (every created thing) will praise Him in the end. Every knee will bow! Anyway, I hope you are well, friend!
